The Nokia Battery Monitor is a well developed application for Symbian touch screen mobile phones, which shows the Nokia battery charge status with estimates of residual usage time and (re)charging time. The Nokia Battery Monitor is crafted by Nokia & VTT Technical Research Center in Finland.

The Nokia Battery Monitor application runs in background and collects Nokia battery usage data. Besides this it is very light on system memory. This is definitely a must have application for smartphones nowadays. The application also has home-screen widget, visualizes the residual energy of the Nokia battery and indicates a testing of the total usage time remained, based on consumption history in colour-coded bar.

There are four categories the application uses to estimate usage of the phone:

Active Use: displays the residual total consumption of the phone. The testing of the Nokia battery is based on the consumption history and accuracy of the test will boost over time (several days).

Talk Time: displays the residual consumption time of your Nokia battery for voice calls. Testing is based on power measurements from the phone and accuracy can rely on external conditions like signal strength variations.

Web Browsing: displays the residual consumption time for web browsing based on power measurements.

Music Palback: displays the residual consumption of MP3 playback time with the multimedia player based on power measurements.

Bear in mind that all of these categories can also be selected to set on device home-screen as widget. Nokia Battery Monitor tracks energy usage, divided into nine colour coded usage categories.

The application runs in background collecting usage data of each of these categories and display colour-coded consumption report over its Statistics tab. The Statistics display the distribution of total and daily energy usage of the Nokia battery in detail, further the Statistics is split in two parts displaying Overall Energy Distribution & Daily Energy Distribution in percentage. Overall Energy Distribution: displays the overall power consumption distribution for all activities. Daily Energy Distribution : displays how energy has been used on each weekday during active phone use. The distribution is collective. For instance, the distribution of the Nokia battery for Saturday shows relative energy usage of activities for all previous Saturdays.

You can alter the colour theme of the app and widget from Options menu. Two themes are offered: Light and Dark. The recommend theme is the Dark theme for phones with OLED screens (like Nokia N8) due to lower energy usage. The application comes for all Symbian^1 (S60 v5) and Symbian^3 touch screen mobile phones Free over Ovi Store!
